Learning about shapes is very important for children towards learning mathematics and science concepts.
According to Dr Sue Gifford from University of Cambridge Nrich Project, teaching young children spatial skills actually improves their maths, including their number understanding and general thinking skills (https://nrich.maths.org/14544).
To do this activity, prepare objects of various shapes and strings for each shapes. Let the children use the string to replicate each shapes. Ask the children to identify the shapes name and discuss the attributes of each shapes like how many side does the shape have and differences between each shape.
