Finger tracing is a great activity to help children familiarize themselves with alphabet formation and handwriting in a fun way. Dipping paint with their fingers and tracing the alphabet outline on paper also get the children to stimulate their touch senses.
Writing is an essential life skill that helps children to record their thoughts and ideas, helps with the ability to recall and remember information and to do many tasks later in life (https://raisingchildren.net.au/toddlers/play-learning/learning-ideas/handwriting)
To do the activity, print out or write an outline of an alphabet on a paper. Prepare some paints in a small shallow container. Ask the children to dip their finger tips in the paint and start tracing the alphabet’s outline. Say the letter’s name and practise saying the letter sound as they trace the letter.
