Children need to be able to recognize the shape and differences of each letters in the alphabet. Michigan State University Extension in their website state that two literacy skills that are important for children to learn to read are the concepts of letter knowledge and alphabetical principle. Letter knowledge is knowing the letters of the alphabet and recognizing them in print while alphabetical principle is the concept of associating letters with sounds and sounds with words. This game encourage children to learn the different shapes of the alphabet by forming the letters shape with a playdoh. To play, print a large alphabet on a plain paper and laminate it. Let the children use playdoh to form the letters, matching the letters on each letters print out.
